My Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I bring warmth, empathy, and curiosity into each session, creating a space where you can feel supported as you explore what is weighing on you. Together, we will look at the patterns, relationships, experiences, and beliefs that may be shaping how you feel today, while also building practical tools to help you cope, heal, and move forward. I tailor therapy to your needs and goals, blending insight-oriented work with real-life strategies so our time together feels meaningful, supportive, and useful.

My Ideal Client

I work best with women who are carrying more than they let on and are ready for compassionate support through a difficult or uncertain season of life. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, cancer or caregiving stress, life transitions, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, career changes, or the emotional weight of being a high-achieving professional, student, teacher, caregiver, or helping professional. I bring a deeply empathetic and compassionate presence to therapy, and my goal is to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and safe enough to be honest about what you are going through. Together, we can process what has felt heavy, reconnect with your strengths, and help you move forward with more clarity, self-trust, and emotional support.

The Concerns I Specialize in Treating

Counseling for Women's Issues

Women today face a unique set of challenges and societal pressures, from balancing multiple roles and responsibilities to dealing with systemic issues like gender inequality, body image, and identity. I am passionate about supporting women through these struggles, offering a feminist-based therapeutic approach that validates your experiences and empowers you to overcome obstacles. Whether you’re dealing with self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, or societal expectations, I provide a supportive space to explore these concerns and work towards a more fulfilling life on your terms.

Counseling for Perinatal Issues/Postpartum Depression and Adjustment

Navigating the perinatal and postpartum periods, as well as the early motherhood years, can be incredibly challenging, filled with a mix of joy, uncertainty, and sometimes overwhelming emotions. Whether you are dealing with postpartum depression, anxiety, or the complex feelings that accompany becoming a parent, I provide a safe and understanding space to explore and address these concerns. Together, we can work on coping strategies, self-care techniques, and building a supportive network to help you regain your sense of balance and well-being during this intense season of your life.

Counseling for Fertility Challenges and Reproductive Mental Health

Fertility challenges can be an emotionally draining and isolating experience, often leading to feelings of grief, frustration, and a sense of helplessness. I am here to support you through this journey, offering a compassionate ear and tools to manage the emotional toll of fertility struggles. It is possible to cultivate hope and resilience as you navigate your options and make informed decisions about your present and future.

Counseling for Grief and Loss

Experiencing grief and loss can be a profoundly painful and life-altering process. Whether you are mourning the loss of a loved one, dealing with the end of a significant relationship, or facing other significant life changes, I am here to help you navigate through your grief. In our sessions, we will explore your emotions, honor your loss, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. My goal is to support you in finding a path to healing, where you can remember and honor your loss while also moving forward with your life in a meaningful and fulfilling way.

Counseling for Anxiety

Anxiety can manifest in many forms, from constant worry and fear to physical symptoms that disrupt your daily life. It can be overwhelming and sometimes paralyzing, but you don’t have to manage it alone. I specialize in helping clients understand the roots of their anxiety, develop effective coping strategies, and create a toolkit for managing stress. Using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness techniques, we will work together to reduce your anxiety and improve your overall quality of life.

My Story

I became a holistic, client centered mental health therapist because I know what it is like to have your life turned upside down. Early in my professional career as an English teacher, one of my worst fears came true - my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. My perspective on life and my priorities shifted suddenly and irrevocably. I spent three wonderful and terrible years at her side as a cancer caregiver before she passed away.

During that time and the years following, I learned how to manage chronic stress, grief, and anxiety, while also finding the bright spots in life and a way forward. I've lived with anxiety and even navigated the stress of starting and changing career paths during a time of mental, emotional, and physical upheaval. The blessing in these experiences is the clarity I gained around my true purpose and passion in life - to teach other women how persevere through their darkest moments.

I'm ready to be your partner in facing anxiety, grief, and traumatic stress, not only because of the qualifications listed on this page, but because I've been there. I've lived through it, and I know you can too.

I promise, you are more resilient than you recognize or feel right now. My passion and my job is to teach you to see your own strengths, prioritize self care, find solutions, and cope with the challenges you're facing by transforming your perspective of yourself and the world.
