My Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I bring warmth, empathy, and curiosity into each session, creating a space where you can feel supported as you explore what is weighing on you. Together, we will look at the patterns, relationships, experiences, and beliefs that may be shaping how you feel today, while also building practical tools to help you cope, heal, and move forward. I tailor therapy to your needs and goals, blending insight-oriented work with real-life strategies so our time together feels meaningful, supportive, and useful.

My Ideal Client

I work best with women who are carrying more than they let on and are ready for compassionate support through a difficult or uncertain season of life. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, cancer or caregiving stress, life transitions, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, career changes, or the emotional weight of being a high-achieving professional, student, teacher, caregiver, or helping professional. I bring a deeply empathetic and compassionate presence to therapy, and my goal is to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and safe enough to be honest about what you are going through. Together, we can process what has felt heavy, reconnect with your strengths, and help you move forward with more clarity, self-trust, and emotional support.

The Concerns I Specialize in Treating

Counseling for Couples and Families

Relationships are dynamic and layered, and they can bring both joy and challenge. Whether you’re in a monogamous, polyamorous, or ethically non-monogamous relationship, I help individuals and partners explore relationship dynamics, deepen connection, strengthen communication, and rebuild trust. With a sex-positive lens, I also support clients exploring intimacy and sexuality, helping you cultivate authentic, satisfying relationships that honor your needs and values.

Counseling for Relationship Trauma & Narcissistic Abuse

Toxic and abusive relationships can leave deep emotional wounds that impact how you relate to yourself and others. I offer a safe, validating space where we can gently explore your experiences, identify unhealthy patterns, and build new ways of relating rooted in safety and self-worth. Healing from relational trauma is a process of reclaiming your voice, setting boundaries, and learning to trust yourself again—steps we take together with care and respect for your pace.

Counseling for Neurodiversity and ADHD

Being neurodiverse, whether through ADHD, autism, or other differences, means experiencing the world uniquely, and that uniqueness deserves celebration and understanding. I support neurodiverse adults in uncovering their strengths while navigating challenges, helping you build self-compassion and tailored strategies that fit your life. Together, we explore how your brain works and co-create tools to improve focus, organization, and emotional regulation in ways that honor your individuality.

Counseling for Anxiety & Panic

Living with anxiety or panic can feel overwhelming and isolating, but you don’t have to face it alone. I work collaboratively with clients to understand the underlying patterns and triggers that fuel anxiety, helping you develop compassionate awareness and practical coping strategies. Through a blend of cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness, and somatic awareness, we create a personalized toolkit to manage symptoms and reclaim a sense of calm and safety in your daily life.

Counseling for Life Transitions

If you're dealing with a major life transition, like moving from high school to college, changing jobs, or moving to a different location, you might feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or anxious about the future. These changes can disrupt your sense of stability, making it difficult to adapt and move forward. I can help you navigate these transitions by providing support and guidance tailored to your unique situation. Together, we will explore strategies to build resilience, find clarity, and enhance your emotional well-being.

Counseling for Depression

Living with depression can profoundly impact your daily life, affecting your mood, energy levels, and overall well-being. It's more than just feeling sad—it can lead to feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, and a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. These symptoms can make it challenging to function at work, in relationships, and in everyday tasks. Are you experiencing persistent feelings of sadness or emptiness? Do you find it difficult to find pleasure in activities that used to bring you joy? Depression can feel isolating, but you don’t have to face it alone. Together, we will work on rebuilding hope, restoring balance, and improving your overall quality of life.

Counseling for Anxiety

Those of us struggling with generalized anxiety tend to exhibit excessive and uncontrollable worry about daily life, especially the future. If you're experiencing generalized anxiety, you might worry excessively about minor matters, such as being late for an appointment or not enjoying a movie you've decided to see. You may focus your worries on specific aspects of your life, such as health, relationships, work, school, or performance. Additionally, you might struggle with perfectionism and find it difficult to accept the inevitable uncertainties in life. I can help you identify your anxious thoughts, help you understand your response to them, and teach you ways to manage anxiety, such as mindfulness, meditation, relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and grounding practices designed to deactivate the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight) and activate the part of the nervous system that promotes relaxation and calm.

Counseling for ADHD & Neurodivergence

There are many unique challenges that come with living with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), including difficulties with focus, organization, and impulsivity. You might find it hard to stay organized, complete tasks on time, or maintain attention on tasks or conversations. You may also struggle with restlessness and impulsive behaviors that can disrupt your daily routine and relationships. Additionally, managing multiple responsibilities and maintaining consistent performance in work or school can be particularly arduous. Together, we can work on cultivating an understanding of your symptoms and developing practical strategies to manage them.

Counseling for Athletes

Counseling for athletes offers specialized support to help navigate the unique challenges faced both on and off the field. Engaging in athletics can be physically, emotionally, and mentally taxing, often leading to stress, anxiety, and burnout. With the expertise of a counselor who has experience as a former professional athlete, clients receive guidance tailored to the demands of athletic life. This service addresses performance anxiety, promotes healthy habits around rest and nutrition, and utilizes sports psychology techniques to foster positive thinking patterns that can help bring out your best in competition. Counseling for athletes enhances performance, reduces anxiety, and helps support a healthier, more balanced relationship with your sport, your body, and yourself.

Counseling for Religious Trauma & Narcissistic Abuse

For many of my clients, past religious or narcissistic abuse has left deep wounds that shape self-worth and relationships long after the harmful environment is gone. I help clients untangle lingering guilt, shame, or fear, and reconnect with their own values and intuition. Through gentle, structured exploration, we work to rewrite old narratives, set healthy boundaries, and rebuild trust in themselves and their ability to decide what healing looks like.

Counseling for Gender-Affirming & LGBTQ+ Care

Through a collaborative and compassionate approach, I create a safe space for women to explore their feelings and experiences. Drawing from various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy, I work with women like you to identify underlying factors contributing to their depression and develop personalized coping strategies. Together, we focus on setting achievable goals, fostering resilience, addressing self-care practices, and enhancing social support networks. By providing validation, encouragement, and practical tools, I will work to empower you on your journey toward healing and support you in reclaiming a sense of hope and purpose in your life.

Counseling for Couples and Families

I work with couples and families to deepen understanding, improve communication, and rebuild connection amid conflict, change, or challenging life transitions. By creating a collaborative space that honors each person’s experience, we explore patterns that impact relationships and work toward empathy, repair, and growth. Using evidence-based approaches tailored to the unique dynamics present, I support partners and family members in strengthening bonds, navigating differences, and fostering healthier ways of relating that promote healing and resilience together.

Counseling for Anxiety & OCD

Using an integrative blend of CBT, family systems, and values-based frameworks, I help clients understand the roots of anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or relationship struggles and how these patterns may have developed over time. Together, we identify triggers, practice practical coping skills, and build healthier relational dynamics. My aim is to empower clients to feel more grounded, confident, and clear in how they show up for themselves and those they care about.

Counseling for Disability & Chronic Health Conditions

As a blind therapist with lived experience navigating ableism, I bring a unique perspective to supporting clients with disabilities or chronic health conditions. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space to process feelings of loss, frustration, or isolation that often accompany disability. Together, we explore practical strategies for self-advocacy, navigate barriers in relationships, work, or daily life, and foster a stronger sense of identity and self-worth grounded in pride and resilience.

Counseling for Traumatic Stress & PTSD

I support individuals in understanding how past traumatic experiences continue to shape thoughts, emotions, and relationships in the present. Using evidence-based trauma approaches such as EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I help clients safely process painful memories, release old patterns, and restore a sense of safety in their bodies and minds. My goal is to create a space where clients feel deeply seen and held, so they can heal at their own pace and reclaim their sense of power and possibility.

Counseling for Anxiety

Anxiety can manifest in many forms, from constant worry and fear to physical symptoms that disrupt your daily life. It can be overwhelming and sometimes paralyzing, but you don’t have to manage it alone. I specialize in helping clients understand the roots of their anxiety, develop effective coping strategies, and create a toolkit for managing stress. Using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness techniques, we will work together to reduce your anxiety and improve your overall quality of life.

Counseling for Grief and Loss

Experiencing grief and loss can be a profoundly painful and life-altering process. Whether you are mourning the loss of a loved one, dealing with the end of a significant relationship, or facing other significant life changes, I am here to help you navigate through your grief. In our sessions, we will explore your emotions, honor your loss, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. My goal is to support you in finding a path to healing, where you can remember and honor your loss while also moving forward with your life in a meaningful and fulfilling way.

Counseling for Fertility Challenges and Reproductive Mental Health

Fertility challenges can be an emotionally draining and isolating experience, often leading to feelings of grief, frustration, and a sense of helplessness. I am here to support you through this journey, offering a compassionate ear and tools to manage the emotional toll of fertility struggles. It is possible to cultivate hope and resilience as you navigate your options and make informed decisions about your present and future.

Counseling for Perinatal Issues/Postpartum Depression and Adjustment

Navigating the perinatal and postpartum periods, as well as the early motherhood years, can be incredibly challenging, filled with a mix of joy, uncertainty, and sometimes overwhelming emotions. Whether you are dealing with postpartum depression, anxiety, or the complex feelings that accompany becoming a parent, I provide a safe and understanding space to explore and address these concerns. Together, we can work on coping strategies, self-care techniques, and building a supportive network to help you regain your sense of balance and well-being during this intense season of your life.

Counseling for Women's Issues

Women today face a unique set of challenges and societal pressures, from balancing multiple roles and responsibilities to dealing with systemic issues like gender inequality, body image, and identity. I am passionate about supporting women through these struggles, offering a feminist-based therapeutic approach that validates your experiences and empowers you to overcome obstacles. Whether you’re dealing with self-esteem issues, relationship challenges, or societal expectations, I provide a supportive space to explore these concerns and work towards a more fulfilling life on your terms.

My Story

I became a holistic, client centered mental health therapist because I know what it is like to have your life turned upside down. Early in my professional career as an English teacher, one of my worst fears came true - my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. My perspective on life and my priorities shifted suddenly and irrevocably. I spent three wonderful and terrible years at her side as a cancer caregiver before she passed away.

During that time and the years following, I learned how to manage chronic stress, grief, and anxiety, while also finding the bright spots in life and a way forward. I've lived with anxiety and even navigated the stress of starting and changing career paths during a time of mental, emotional, and physical upheaval. The blessing in these experiences is the clarity I gained around my true purpose and passion in life - to teach other women how persevere through their darkest moments.

I'm ready to be your partner in facing anxiety, grief, and traumatic stress, not only because of the qualifications listed on this page, but because I've been there. I've lived through it, and I know you can too.

I promise, you are more resilient than you recognize or feel right now. My passion and my job is to teach you to see your own strengths, prioritize self care, find solutions, and cope with the challenges you're facing by transforming your perspective of yourself and the world.
