Holistic Health & Nutrition Coaching

“Health is a state of complete mental, social and physical well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” – World Health Organization, 1948

Are you stuck in a never ending pattern of poor health choices? Maybe you're the "one" in the one out of every four Americans who currently live with a chronic illness or health condition. I get it. We live in a world of constant demand, making it seem impossible to truly prioritize yourself and develop a consistent self care routine. Especially for women who are trying to do it all - career, motherhood, friend, partner, sister, daughter, and more - it may seem impossible to put your self care at the top of the priority list rather than at the bottom where it has typically fallen.  I'm here to tell you that you can do it all. You can break that cycle of dieting, fast food, medications, and never finding time to exercise. Hiring a health coach can be the boost and support you need to find the balance that is the key to a better life.

What is Holistic Health Coaching?

A Holistic Health Coach is a trained professional who uses an integrative approach to both diet and lifestyle changes to improve your health. As your coach, I will act as a guide toward achieving an overall healthier life by partnering with you to develop healthier nutrition patterns, relationships, physical fitness, spirituality, and more.

Changing habits is hard, and for most people, it’s multiple negative habits that contribute to poor health. This can feel overwhelming and, often, it is hard to critically evaluate our own lifestyle and identify what habits we need to change. This is where holistic health coaching comes in as a powerful tool. As your coach, I will be a loyal, objective partner that takes the time necessary to truly understand you, your lifestyle, your goals, and what challenges stand in your way. Together, we can reframe your perspective about health and  develop positive changes to your social, psychological, spiritual, and physical habits.

Holistic Health Coaching offers you. . .

  • Behavior change through strengths based psychology: By focusing on your strengths (not weaknesses) I encourage manageable, realistic behavioral change that will help you to build a positive and healthy mind-set while working toward your health goals.

  • Skills to promote healthy habits: I will provide you with the education and encouragement needed to healthier choices and reverse bad habits. In particular, you'll develop skills needed to make it easier and more natural to eat healthy, increase frequency of physical activity, manage stress, get plenty of sleep, and more!

  • Motivation and Accountability: Through motivational interviewing, education, and a focus on why it is important and manageable to prioritize self-care, holistic health coaching can help you to visualize and work toward achieving your health goals on a daily basis by connecting to your unique experiences (e.g., “I am going to change my lifestyle so I can have a healthy pregnancy and birth”).

  • Supplemental services and Referrals: In our work together, if we determine that mental health is a barrier to your overall health,  I can offer clinical mental health counseling and integrative medicine for mental health services. Additionally, I partner with other practitioners to make referrals for other holistic services including massage therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care.

Can Holistic Health Coaching Help Me?

If there is one thing I've learned from losing a loved one to cancer, it is that health truly is wealth. If you don't have your health, nothing else matters. As true as this is, it is often hard for us to do what we know is best for ourselves. Consider this: Has your doctor ever recommended a lifestyle change that you found to be unsustainable? Have you tried to develop healthier habits, but found you couldn’t do it alone? If this is you, Holistic Health Coaching can help.

You will benefit from Holistic Health Coaching if you . . .

  • Are struggling with a chronic health condition such as cancer, high cholesterol, diabetes, chronic fatigue, high body weight, and more

  • Are more interested in dealing with causes than effects and with the overall person, rather than specific parts or areas

  • Are tired of the unhealthy habits you know exist in your life

  • Have a strong desire to  promote good health in yourself or others

  • Recognize that true health means improving your lifestyle

  • Want access to the kind of care that will sustain wellness and the quality of life for years to come

  • Desire to be empowered against the attack from pollution, stress, denatured food, toxins and other variables on your health

  • Seek health care that involves preventative, non-invasive, individual oriented principles and techniques

Is it hard to funnel time, money, and energy into self care? Absolutely. But is it worth it? Yes! In the long run, you can either invest in your health or you can pay medical bills. If your choice is to make lasting changes and invest in your health now in order to prevent disease and establish a self care routine that makes you feel your best each day, contact me today for an appointment.

How does it Work?

1. Book an Appointment. Not ready yet? Contact me to have any questions or concerns answered and to schedule by phone, text, or email.

2. Complete Paperwork. Upon booking your appointment, you'll be invited to electronically complete intake paperwork and a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment. This holistic assessment is the first step towards working together to isolate specific goals and develop an action plan, so it is important to take your time and hold space for self-reflection.

3. Attend your First Coaching Telehealth Session. Session length is typically 50 min for your initial intake, followed by 30 min weekly sessions with text and email support in between. During your first appointment, we’ll dive into deep into conversation focused on your unique goals, obstacles to those goals, and will work together to determine best approach towards developing a comprehensive self care plan.

4. Follow your Holistic Health Coaching Self Care Plan. Shortly after the first session, you'll be sent a Holistic Health Self Care Plan that lists smart goals and action steps to get you started on your journey to better health. From there, we'll meet weekly or bi weekly to check your progress and make alterations to your initial plan.

5. Get Support from Your Coach via Text Between Sessions.

You'll walk away from each session with homework, strategies, and specific take-aways to implement at a pace that is comfortable and manageable for you. To support your in implementing these changes between sessions, text support is available to get your through tough moments. We'll continue to work together in sessions and text support until you have a consistent self-care routine and you've achieved the goals you set at the start of your coaching program.
