My Story

My name is Whitney Johnson, and it turns out that I’ve always been a social worker … I just took a bit of a winding road to get here! I’ve always been a helper and leaned toward the field of counseling, honing my ability to hold space and offer deep empathy for others through my own experiences. I've grown as a human and a therapist in my time working at a summer camp, traveling to other countries, teaching high school students, experiencing joy as a dancer and horseback rider, and through a diagnosis and management of a chronic illness.

Whether an official counselor or not, I have worked at the nexus of systems in pursuit of enhancing the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities over many years.  I have a variety of educational, professional, and personal experiences that support my therapeutic interactions with clients and I look forward to sitting with you in whatever you might be experiencing right now. My goal and passion as a therapist is to hold space for you to overcome challenges and celebrate moments of joy.

I have been lucky to find wonderful supports in the most difficult moments of my life and consider it a privilege to be able to do the same for you. I come to sessions with a mind to work collaboratively with you to help you recognize your own strengths in order to deal with life’s challenges—past, present, and future—and to see the best version of yourself because of, rather than in spite of, all the threads of your life narrative.
