Hello!
I'm Alison Festa, MA LPCC (she/her) and I'm a licensed professional counselor candidate providing mental health counseling for clients in Colorado.
I am excited to collaborate with you on your journey towards healing, exploration, empowerment, and growth. A strong counseling relationship between client and therapist is a critical tool that allows you as a client to connect with your own inner experience and ability to heal, so I strive to create a therapeutic space characterized by compassion and authenticity. It is in this therapeutic space where you can be vulnerable and explore your inner world without judgment to discover new avenues for growth, joy, and connection.

My Story
Throughout my life, I have always been drawn toward the world of mental health and the power of relationships in healing. As a child of two professionals who worked in mental health settings, I was raised in an environment that fostered empathy, awareness, authenticity, curiosity, and connection. Additionally, growing up in the Green Mountains of Vermont I cultivated a relationship with the natural world and the healing power of wilderness and adventure.
Having personally navigated a life-threatening illness and my own journey of healing, I feel passionate about the importance of a holistic approach to wellness, growth, rediscovering wholeness, and finding joy. Through experiencing the anxiety, isolation, and disconnection associated with facing a potentially terminal illness as a young adult, I am driven to improve the mental health support for those facing similar challenges. After a period of exploration working in the outdoor industry and higher education, I landed back at my roots and took the steps towards becoming a therapist.
My Framework:
I primarily work from a person-centered, humanistic, and trauma-informed perspective. Additionally, I am rooted in the Relational-Cultural Theory, grounded in the belief that relationship and connection are fundamental to our mental health and that growth-fostering relationships are a source of meaning and empowerment. I utilize Internal Family Systems theory to explore parts nonjudgmentally, recognize the spectrum of strengths and challenges that come with our different parts, and work towards balance, integration, and connection with self. I also incorporate and am trained in Motivational Interviewing, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
